Therapeutic tools include the following:

Myofascial Release Therapy (MFR) is a gentle technique that has a profound effect upon the body tissues for healing restrictions developed from trauma. Trauma includes: inflammation, deeply distressing or disturbing injuries, scar tissue, poor posture, repetitive strain from work, ADL’s and exercise.

If your body cannot release the restrictions naturally, they will persist. Relieving pressure on the fascial system around muscles, nerves, blood vessels and osseous structures, helps create a mobile environment. The therapist applies gentle, sustained pressure of 5 minutes or more, into the fascial system. MFR techniques may be comprised of compression, traction, twisting, or moving of a particular body part.

Myofascial Release Therapy may help with acute pain, long-term obstructive patterns, and issues that haven’t responded to other forms of treatment. Myofascial Release Therapy can be a part of the solution in your healing journey.

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the CranioSacral system – comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.

The therapist’s light, hands-on approach is a gentle method of detection and correction that encourages your own natural healing mechanisms. By releasing restrictions in the craniosacral system, the improved fluidity of the central nervous system can allow the body to resist disease, and various problems connected with pain and dysfunction.

Muscle Energy Technique (MET) is a manual manipulative procedure that is utilized to normalize muscle and joint function.

To test the joint, the restricted joint is taken to the limit in three planes. For example: flexion, rotation & sidebend. The patient is instructed to actively use muscle tension to activate that joint: From a controlled position, in a specific direction against a distinct opposing force. This creates an isometric contraction in the tight tissues contributing to restriction.

Reciprocal inhibition is also used in specific cases to reduce tonicity in the affected structures. The net effect is reduced muscle hypertonicity and a re-alignment of bony structures.

Trigger Point Release is a manual technique used in conjunction with Myofascial Release Therapy to achieve more ease within the muscle belly, tendon, ligament and fascial structures of the body. Focus is to relieve restrictions in a three dimensional pattern to restore the body and fluids with function and flow.

Note: Lauren performs General Swedish Massage and Deep Tissue Massage- General Swedish and Deep Tissue boosts circulation and both techniques vary in pressure.

* For the most success, the client must be willing to stretch regularly between sessions to retrain connective tissue patterns and prevent recurrence of muscle contracture.
